• Folks I need some good advice:
I have been working with a number or websites that I have on various servers and hosts that I want to aggregate on one server for the ease of service. Also the service that I have on one of the hosts has been bad, not allowing the sites to grow because it is down so much.

What I am asking for guidance about is the best strategy to move these sites (different versions of wordpress, see below)and at the same time upgrade them? It seems like the easiest solution if available would be to install the latest word press at the new host and import the archives from the old ones. Is there a way to do this and what should be done first since it involves reassigning subdomains etc.

The domains which I own and would like to relocate are:
    pacifictribune.com
    pacifichealthonline.com
    eatingthepacific.com
    pacificseniorcenter.com
    pacificvlog.com
    pacifich2o.com
    ourgreenpacific.com

Is there anyone out there that would do this for me for a fee? I think I am planning to relocate to Yahoo Small Business as a host. I have gotten stung by some of the smaller hosts and the advantages of using the big guy are obvious, but I would welcome some thought s on good hosts too?

    Please advise.

  • I try to stay out of host advising, but you might search the forums here on “Yahoo” for other Y! hosted blogs. The track record, in the past, was not so great.

Out of curiosity, what versions are the blogs?

Oh – and regarding the “fee” part, you might consider the WP-Pro’s mailing list: http://lists.automattic.com/mailman/listinfo/wp-pro

Nope. That’s the worst solution. If there is a DB structure difference between the latest and your versions… it would cause a total nightmare.

What is the best solution then? Can I move the sites without updating the databases etc, because I will just be upgrading them immediately with a complete new version?
