Those slideshow look great, I love how the captions expand.
I think the issue is that the whole slide isn’t linked, there are gaps in the link that could be clicked on accident. The whole slide image is a link, but the in the caption above it, only the text is a link, so the padding of the “slide-text” container isn’t linked.
Try removing that padding, and adding padding to the links instead to get the same layout without any gaps. You may also need to set the links to display block.

Yes, that makes sense! Not got an iPhone to test it with at the moment, but will get that re-tested next time I have one to hand (I have implemented the fix you suggested – certainly more stable on my Android device, which also wobbled, but not as badly as the iPhone did).

I tested out on my Android, links work fine, but the captions popup for a second when you click, before the new page loads. This looks a bit funny, they don’t really work properly since you can hover on a touchscreen.
I’m guessing that these captions are conflicting with the clicks on iOS, hijacking that click so the link doesn’t work. I would try loading this caption functionality conditionally so it isn’t activated on mobile devices. With a standard slide image and static caption both linked, it should work fine.
I have a hunch that this is connected with the way iOS interprets :hover – other touch-enabled OSs ignore :hover but iOS treats the first click as a hover action. I have this issue with site navigation on a child-theme of twenty-eleven. Nicholas Zakas wrote the article that opened my eyes.
There are some suggested workarounds, which I have not yet tried. I suspect that this is a wider issue which the WordPress community has yet to address. iOS seems here to stay and any commercial sites based on WP as a CMS will be losing business until a simply-applied fix is available, ideally as a plugin. I hope some bright coder is following this thread!
