    Hey Tobias, is this possible?

I have a table with events that are listed by their date. I would like to automatically collapse all rows containing a date that has already passed. In place of these rows, I would like to have a “Click here to show previous events” link, which would expand the rows.

    Here’s the table: http://www.supracer.com/calendar/

Basically I want the previous events to be accessible to visitors, but I don’t want them to be the first thing that’s displayed.

I also don’t want the collapsed rows to be read by search engines. When this particular page shows up in Google, it automatically displays the first two events in the table as part of the meta description. So I would like those two entries to be current events. (You can see what I mean by Googling “SUP Race Calendar”)

I appreciate you go out of your way to provide free support, but if you can manage to pull this one off then I’ll definitely be donating again 😀

    Thanks,
    – Chris

    Hi Chris,

    I’m very sorry, but I don’t know a solution to this 🙁

TablePress doesn’t have dynamic features like this, as that’s exceeding the intended scope and use case.

For things like that, a custom database solution (PHP/mySQL) is probably the better choice.

    Regards,
    Tobias

No worries, thanks for replying so fast either way.

Do you think it’s technically possible? If so, could I hire you to build a custom solution? Even if it’s something totally separate to TablePress, I would love to have this working.

Let me know if you can and I’ll email you.

    Hi,

yes, that should be technically possible, why not. Unfortunately, as I’m not a professional developer, I’m not available for such custom professional work, sorry. My regular job and the development and support of TablePress already keep me more than busy…
Sorry that I can’t help with this.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Ok cool, thanks for taking a look anyway!

Just one last thing: Do you know who/what I should ask for?

I’m definitely going to get someone to do this, I’m just not sure exactly which type of developer would be suitable for the job.

If you could give me a push in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

no, sorry, I don’t really have experience with that. You should try to get a good estimate of the necessary developing time from the dev you find, and if his hourly rate is ok, you can decide if the total price is fair or not.
WordPress knowledge is probably a bonus, so a good starting point could be to http://jobs.wordpress.net/ (Not everybody on there is good though, so you might ask for some references.)

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

no problem, you are very welcome!
I hope that you can find somebody who can develop this for you!
