• Hey folks, I apologize if this has been posted elsewhere, but I tried to search for an existing topic on this and couldn’t find one.

Short version: I’m having severe problems with the new gallery/media manager, and would like to either fix them or revert to the simpler, previous version.

Long version: In a recent game review article, I uploaded over forty screenshots. These screenshots were individually numbered, and taken in chronological order. Now, with the previous version of the media manager and gallery, it understood that this was my desired order, and even gave an option to put images in chronological order.

This new media manager and gallery, however, is a damned mess. I uploaded the images by selecting them in order, as I’ve always done. This time, however, when I went to insert a gallery, the images were basically ordered 1-8, 16-22, 9-15, 23-46. To put them in the correct order, I had to drag them all over the place, which took FOREVER.

Therefore, is there any way to either:

    1. Prevent this from occurring again by ensuring all images are ordered properly from the get-go?
    2. Revert to the previous version of the media manager that didn’t exhibit this problem?

Thank you in advance for your time.

  • Ok, so I’m on the “new post” section, and trying to attach pictures to my new post, but I am unable to access my pictures. Each time I click on the” insert media”, it takes me to gallery, but on the gallery, my pictures are missing. And there are no links to uploads. Can someone please help me? This is driving me crazy

@african Wedding Mag – it works best on these forums if you start your own threads per http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post Your issue isn’t really the same as the one in this thread.

You can start a new thread here: http://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting#postform

and it’s helpful if you include a link to your site.

Wow, he gets an answer on four hours, I get nothing in two months. Nice. /bitter

Hey brianrubin – so sorry your post didn’t get answered – it’s really not personal at all :). Since these are volunteer forums, it can be a bit variable as to when and whether threads get answered. I hate that not every one does 🙁 . And then once a thread is more than a week or two old, it’s often a moot point as the OP has solved it or moved on. Do you still need help with this or anything else?

Hey there, yes, actually. 🙂 My galleries that were in posts before the gallery revision have all disappeared. Is there any way to get those back besides rebuilding them manually? It appears as if it disassociated the pictures from the posts. 🙁

Oh gosh, I’m really not sure – and I’m just about to get off of here for a while (been here all day and duty calls) – but I can check back with you in an hour or so.

What theme are you using? I’m guessing you don’t have a back-up of your site from before updating? This really sucks for sure 🙁 .

I started doing backups through Vaultpress in October, but I think the change happened before that.

The theme I’m using is Magomra.

Hi – 3.5 and the new media manager/library happened in early December, so it sounds like that’s after you started backups? Of course, since you’ve presumably been adding stuff since then, that gets more complicated to just restore.

Are the galleries done with a plugin? Are all your plugins up to date (and hopefully known compatible with 3.5+)?

One thing you could try is to disable your plugins and switch to the twentytwelve theme – just to see if any of those are problematic or change how the galleries look.
