    Hi,

if I create a link somewhere in the text, it’s OK and it stays there. However, if I start a new paragraph (with some space above and below) and create a link, it stays there when I update the page, but if I edit it, the link is gone.

    Here is an example: http://best80scartoons.insplisity.com/cartoons/ducktales/

If I would edit this post, the “Buy DuckTales on Amazon” link would be gone, and only the text would be left.

Anyone knows, why is this happening?

    Thanks!

  • I don’t know why but you can try using “Text” instead of “Visual” mode when editing and see if that solves it. It’s a little tab you select at the top right of the content editing box.

Thanks for your reply, but if possible, I’d like to manage my links with the Visual editor. 🙂 Much simpler and quicker.

If you try the text editor and find that the problem disappears then you know it’s the visual editor that is causing it. That’s why its worth testing.

OK, I’ll try it then, thanks!

If I put the links in manually, everything is OK. How can this be? I only use the default editor – I had Tiny MCE variations installed, but I’ve deleted them all.

The visual editor can be tricky. I’ve had similar issues myself and therefore only use the text editor nowadays. It’s stripping your code out for some reason. The only thing I can suggest is to try to search on the forums for people with similar problems. Sorry I don’t have a solution for you.

Are you using WP3.5.1? There was a known problem in 3.5 with links being stripped out, but it was supposed to be fixed in 3.5.1. Also be sure that you are not switching between the visual and text editors as that will cause problems.

Thanks to both of you for replying.

    I use 3.5 – I haven’t upgraded yet to 3.5.1.

By the way, is it advisable to update every single time an update is available?

Yes, you should update as soon as possible as some may contain security-related changes.
