• Whenever I type in the Thai font it shows as question marks. The language pack in stalled correctly.

    I found a post saying:

    Change those two lines to:

    //define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);
    //define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);

    but this breaks the site and disables widgets etc

    Regards

  • Are your database’s & table’s collations set to something like utf8_general_ci?

    Thanks weeix The database tables were swedish_latin and I changed them to utf8 which solved the problem. The only issue I still have is whenever I add a translation in the strings it doesn’t save and reverts back to the English. Also when I try to create a widget in Thai and type Thai is deletes ALL the widgets in the site! Shall I create another post?

    How do you translate the string? edit them directly in the php file or edit the *.po file?

    WordPress recommended us to edit the *.po files and generate it into *.mo files (most software would automatically do this)

    I have never experienced such issue like these, so create another post might help.

    I’ll start another posting however I simply edit titles by going to languages > strings translations > and then simply type in the Thai translation under the English! I don’t touch any files.

    I will start a new post regarding the widgets though
