• Hi,

Whenever I attempt to install a new plugin, whether it is via WP admin or by uploading via ftp, I experience the same problem(s) with ANY pluging I attempt to use:

    1. First attempt of new plugin via WP: It downloads, unpacks and installs (according to WP Admin) . I then click on ‘activate’ and get “The plugin does not have a valid header”. If I then look for the plugin in WP it is not there, although the folder is there on the ftp.

    2. Second attempt of plugin via WP: Same as above but after the unpacking step it fails with ‘Destination folder already exists’.

    3. Manual install: If I upload the folder to the correct location it just does not show up in WP.

The fact that this happens with all plugins would suggest to me that:

    a. possible problem with WP 3.5 and 3.5.1
    b. web hosting issue

Has anyone out there got any advice here please? I am at my wits end!

    Kind regards,
    Davian

  • It may be that your website has been hacked. Check your website on sucuri.net for presence of malicious code, malware, virus etc.

It checks out fine… Damn this is frustrating. Do you think it could be a permissions issue on the ftp?

    i have the same issue!

It’s frustrating, isn’t it? If I get any useful feedback from my host I shall let you know!

Yeah its sucks!! i know i didn’t get hacked or anything. i run my own VPS and have it very well configured.

i can get them working if i upload to plugins folder but not trough my site

    I’m guessing its 3.5.1

Cause i read another post with people having the same issue on different host providers.

Does anybody figure that out ? So far its looks like that latest wordpress versions have this bug .

Already tried manual install as well , but even the plugin is activating its not showing up in the menu on the other hand its shows on the left panel in older version .

    Please guide anyone ?

@arsalan Ahmed Unless your on the same server with the same theme and plugin, despite the symptoms being similiar your problem is probably not the same. Can you please post your own topic instead with your own details?

    @daviandent

whether it is via WP admin or by uploading via ftp

Weird. Manual installation via FTP is pretty fool proof. At least it will get the files into your plugins directory.

It may be that something is interfering with your activation or you may be hacked (possible).

What’s the link to your site? Also have you tried deactivating all of your existing plugins and switching your WordPress installation to the Twenty Twelve theme? Once that’s done then try installing a new plugin via the WordPress dashboard.
