The index page of my blog is very slow to load...has about a 5 second delay and then loads instantly. Once the index, or home page is loaded, navigating to other pages is instantaneous.
Something isn't right when the home page is called. I'm thinking there could be a database issue/error, or something possibly with my theme, but probably not.
Can anyone do a diagnostic? I get CPU usage outages because of this, and it's a bit of a drag.

Same problem but mine times out ... on both of my blogs ... repeatedly ... over and over again ... I am verrrrrry frustrated ... it only happens to me on MY sites ... I can view yours just fine! LOL

My site was loading slow because of a faulty ultimate tag warrior plugin which caused my postmeta db to expand in size. Check it and purge if its huge...you'll be able to tell if it's too big. Just backup before you do to be sure.

Hate to be a "me too'er" but same @ http://blog.maltese.net.
Any thoughts as to why so slow?

I make test blog with new version of WP. I didn't have any plugin installed or activated, but i still have instant load after 5-6 seconds.
Just to mention: there was just 1 post on page, default theme, and nothing else.
Maybe we all have problem with our hosting company. My is goddady. I read a lot of articles about them, and some said they don't have problem but some (LIKE ME) have big problems.

Okay i am having the same problem blog.rcheli.dk anybody got a solution for this ?
I don't think it´s the DB on my host, i have a nother site working with the database, and not problems there.
I know wordpress is free but i would be very nice to get this issue fixed. anybody please ?!?!?!?

Same here.
I just deactivated the wassup plugin. Now the site is really fast.
