I would say many Plugins can handle the gallery posts better than Voyage Theme. In fact, Voyage Theme does not have features for gallery post format yet.

I use the following plugin for images. It has a lot of feature and many plugins to support it for slideshow etc.

If you just want some simple light box attachment. Jetpack plugin supports standard [gallery] short code.

I put a small demo here:

You can simple click on one of images and the light box will popup. Some people may not like Jetpack. It is one of my favor plugins.

Voyage Theme will support image/gallery posts. But it will focus on presentation and layout – not light box. I will let other plugins to do the job.

In v1.1.3, there will be an option to use ColorBox JQuery since many users asked for it.

Fantastic, that is exactly what I am looking for and how you have done it is great, although would you mind explaining how you set that up with the jetpack short code? It looks great and I want to have my gallery like that but I’m still fairly new and don’t understand how to do that.

I used ColorBox JQuery plugin instead of JetPack. I submitted v1.1.3 to WordPress but it was rejected due to some minor issue according to WordPress review standard. I submitted v1.1.4 and hopefully they can approve it quickly.

Anyway I uses standard WordPress shortcode [gallery] with some JavaScript in the theme. In the meantime, you may use the a plugin called ColorBox Plus. I’ve not tried yet.
