    Hello,

Your plugin was mentioned as a competition/alternative to Buddypress. I’m currently testing a Buddypress/BBpress integration but would like to know if there is a better alternative.

I would like know if there is a plugin, option to import other forums formats to your plugin. For example a BBpress forum to your forum format.

    Thanks.

Thank you for your interest in WP-Symposium. A few of the main features is you do not really have to have a special theme for Symposium to work. It does work with most themes out there.

There is a import for BBPress and Mingle Forum as well. Go to our site and check us out wpsymposium

Again Thank you for your interest in our Plugin for WordPress

    Thank you,

    I visited this post:

    http://www.wpsymposium.com/discuss/general-topics/import-users-from-buddypress/

    and found the following:

If they are in a wordpress site they are already members, as with buddy press they all have to join the site through wordpress. YOU can import your forum’s as well. via the installation screen in symposium.

Which is great but where in the installation screen is this option? I can’t seem to find it.

    Thanks.

Sorry, I’m not interested in your bronze or above services just the basic forum. Which my understanding is free to use. Unless the import function is part of the that package then I’m not interested in your software.

I found the option on the Installation menu under “Show Installation Help” which is probably the last place where most people would look for it.

Still the option to import is really a migration process as it is properly called on the Installation menu.

Migration, the bbpress software must be installed in order for your software to copy the forum to its new format.

Import, the other forum format doesn’t need to be installed and can be imported from a file or database. Unfortunately, your software doesn’t seem to provide this option.

    Thanks.

I would like to know if WPSYMPOSIUM FREE can completely export the data of the BuddyPress installation

it only imports the forums cats and topics, nothing else.

    @lemoreno,

you are right when it comes to them wanting you to upgrade membership to get support. Recently on their forums, you see most of the “free” support being asked to upgrade to get better support.

They claim you can get free support, but @robert62 on almost all threads recently has been urging people to upgrade. So, free support isn’t available here as @robert62 has made the requirement for you to go to their site and ask for support there. Once there, you will probably be asked to upgrade.

I wouldn’t mention it, but Simon, the Dev. has said on here before that they don’t try to make you upgrade. I think things have changed a little. But don’t take my word for it. Try it..

If WP Symposium hasn’t changed the way it handles users (I haven’t tried lately), WP Symposium should inherit all users from the WP Database. You shouldn’t have to import them as they are already there.
