Norbert,
Appreciate your feedback! I just checked out your site and it looks like you aren’t using WPSocialite. I believe you are using a plugin called sharedaddy. Please let me know if I am missing where WPSocialite is being used.
Regarding the facebook share button, it seems facebook has discontinued a specific share button in favor of the like button acting as both a like and a share (https://www.facebook.com/help/125038500909065/). I have had many requests for a specific share button, which I am still trying to address, but by the looks of it we may have to find another way to use the like button instead.
Please let me know if I’m incorrect about your site and link me to where WPSocialite is being used.
Thanks again!
Hi
sorry for the late reply.
I have now configured the plugins so that on the front page with all entries there is only the button group from JetPack, while on the single post page there are both, the WPSocialite and the JetPack sharing button.
When you click on the facebook button of JetPack, you get a window to share the link on facebook, but it is not automatically liked, while in WPSocialite the window for sharing pops up, and the item is automatically liked, even if I don’t share anything.
Thanks a lot for your patience and all the best
Norbert
To be more specific, it would be nice to have a “like” and a “share” button, these are different actions.
Norbert,
Apologies for the late reply.
As I indicated above facebook is not supporting a dedicated “share” button anymore.
I’m attempting a workaround, but it won’t be coming in todays release. Hope this doesn’t cause any inconvienece.
Please see this thread on github for more information on the FB like/share issue: https://github.com/tmort/wpsocialite/issues/19
Hi Tom,
thanks for your answer. I read that facebook is phasing out the sharing, but I see it everywhere, and never is there any problem.
To be more specific, I guess what I want is a feature that when clicking on the button, a new window pops up that opens
https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=<ENCODED_URL>
That is what I actually want to do. No other fb connection or loading necessary, just that.
If we could have 1 button: “Share” that does the above, and one button “Like” (or “Recommend”) as before that counts also, that would be the perfect solution (for me at least 😉
Thanks
Norbert
Norbert,
Now I understand bit better. I’ve also found the facebook documentation to accomplish what you are looking for. Look for an update with this soon.
