• Tried updating everything over the weekend, thought everything was working then I tried to log in the next day and get this error after trying to login.

“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
    at url: http://website.com/homedirectory/wp-admin

No trouble with the log-in page, just when I submit the log-in information I get this. When I go back to the main index page for my installation and refresh I can see that I am logged in as the wordpress edit bar at the top appears.

When i go up to the bar and click on dashboard, I get the same error. But if I click on another link like posts, or users, or updates it actually takes me to that page of the admin panel and then I can navigate the admin panel just fine – JUST NOT THE DASHBOARD MAIN PAGE or Profile Page (I think that’s it).

I have tried disabling all plug-ins, I have tried reverting to twenty-ten theme. I did a manual install following all the instructions. I tried resetting the user database. None of these worked. Any other ideas. This is super weird to me…

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme (Twenty Twelve) by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

esmi, I tried both. Same result as before unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Site url?

Can we see the site using the default theme with all plugins deactivated?

It’s a membership site that people pay to have access to. Thus, I can’t really take it down for an extended period of time unfortunately without upsetting customers.

Is there certain code you are looking for? I can take it down, copy/paste then restore the site.

No one suggested taking the site down but you do need to carry out these (the most basic) troubleshooting steps if you want to get to the root of the problem. Otherwise, we can’t really help you.

Sorry, I’m not explaining myself well. If i change the themes, then none of the membership stuff will show up and my S2 member referral system is not integrated with the original theme. Because of that, when I take it down, I could lose customers.

I have already tried deactivating all plugins and switching to the default theme, it did not change the situation. So i am just asking what you need to see so I don’t have to leave it like that and lose sales.

You could try cloning the site elsewhere for testing purposes.

    Site is cloned with plugins disabled and twenty-ten theme activated. Clone is at;

Still the same issue by the way.

I’ve tried multiple browsers, and even “reset” safari (cleared out everything). I’ve tried multiple computers. Same result, but thanks for the thought.
