Only show part of news on front page

    I am using the standard theme. I would like to know how I set up the front page, so not the whole part of the news/article is shown.

    I only want a part of the news to be shown – and the user should then press a “Read more” link to read the rest of the news/article.

    I can find that function for the feed function but not just on the normal index.php front page.

    Any clues how I do that?

    You have two choices:
    a) the easy one: when writing a post click the “more” button where you want to break the text; it will also display a “read more” link
    b) to edit your index.php file in the theme folder and replace the_content with the_excerpt. It will “cut” automatically every post after a certain number of words, ending the excerpts with [...]
    This will NOT be a link, and there will be no “read more” link. The title of the post (as always) would serve as the perm(nent(link.
