Permalinks not working after change(404 error)

    Hi All,

    I am running a wordpress site, with a wordpress version 3.4.1 and I want to change my permalinks, make them pretty. After I change them, I get the 404 error

    .htaccess is writable and changes upon permalink change
    my host supports mod_rewrite, because I already asked

    Is there anything that i am missing?
