  • In the unzipped package you should find all the template files and the stylesheet. So, what is it in the package when you unzip it on your computer?

Read again the instructions at the link you agve above: you have to upload the theme – it doesn’t go there by itself!

OK, I went ahead and followed the instructions from the author. Here they are.

    (1) Unzip the package in an empty directory.
    (2) Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
    (3) Save the file as wp-config.php
    (4) Upload everything.
    (5) Open /wp-admin/install.php in your browser. This should setup the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.
    (6) Note the password given to you.
    (7) The install script should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username admin and the password generated during the installation. You can then click on ‘Profile’ to change the password.

On step 5, I got a message that says WP was alread installed, which I predicted. I went ahead and went to upgrade.php…can’t tell if that worked. I was never given a password and I don’t see the skin that I purchased in the Presentation tab…just the classic and default skins.

moshu…in the unzipped content there is a wp-content/themes folder. Within that folder there is a classic and a default folder. I uploaded both of these, but neither of them are the skin that was purchased. Is it somewhere else in the unzipped content?

    That’s an idiotic instructions for a theme…

    Forget it, throw it away!

Read again what I wrote: YOU HAVE TO UPLOAD the theme folder onto your server/host. Did you do it???

    Thread Starter ftbadolato

    (@ftbadolato)

Yeah….it has the two themse that I told you, which are actually already there anyway.

If there is no new theme in whatever package you got from those monster guys where you bought it… why don’t you ask them?
Sorry, I just can’t follow what’s going on.

A theme should not mess with WP installation. A theme zip package should not have anything else than the theme’s template files.

I am beginning to wonder if the theme did not come in the zipped folder, but I do see a .psd file that is the theme I purchased.

    (@ftbadolato)

Well, this is my first time doing this, and that is what I am leaning towards as well….

There are some unscrupulous folk who advertise photoshop mockups (.psd files) as *themes*.

    Thread Starter ftbadolato

    (@ftbadolato)

Hope that is not the case. I figured that MonsterTemplates would screen those types of designers.

    Have a look here:

    http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/15379.html

What does it mean by, “This theme is widgetized.”

Widgets are “fancy” plugins that you can place in your sidebar(s) without editing the files.

We can’t help anymore, because just looking at that website you gave doesn’t help: we do NOT know what is it in the downloaded/purchased .zip package you got.

If you want me to take a look at it send it over to my name here at transycan dot net. (send the original zip!)

    Thread Starter ftbadolato

    (@ftbadolato)

I’ve looked through the .ZIP thoroughly, and it does not contain any themes….just the .PSD file. I have a ticket into MonsterTemplates to see if they can send me the theme format. If I can’t get the ne one to work, I’ll let you know.

My host has version 2.0.3. To upgrade, do I simply point my browser to wp-admin/upgrade.php? I tried that, but nothing appears to have changed.

Don’t click around on everything like crazy πŸ™‚ Always read the documentation before touching anything.

“Upgrade” means uploading the files for the new version…
