Look at the source code of the page and what is the URL to the broke images?
The Links system was removed in WordPress 3.5. If you need it, it’s available in the form of the “Links Manager” plugin.
Ahhhh… I read it as missing images. Wow I was off. 🙂
thank you very much…its weird that such an important facility was removed is there an other way to create links on 3.5? or is the plugin the only answer?

It was removed because it was not important at all, in fact. Virtually nobody used it. The Links system is a sort of leftover from the days of the “blogroll”.
If you want to make lists of links, the menu system is a simpler way to do that sort of thing.

Whilst I agree that is not commonly used in many sites, I disagree that with the idea that “virtually nobody used it”. Or wants to use it in future. I was also surprised that the removal was so abrupt. OK – so I know how activate the Links Manager via options.php but most don’t (hence why I keep the plugin link handy). What might have been nicer would have been to hide by default on new installs but have a checkbox option in (say) Settings -> General to turn it back on again.

That is exactly what happened. Except, instead of a checkbox, there’s a one-liner plugin.
Also, I wouldn’t say the removal was “abrupt”. I mean, it was talked about for at least a couple of years before finally getting some traction and patches around 6 months ago.

But people have to go looking for that plugin and they may not know what to look for. It may not even occur to them that there is a plugin available.
Well… good. We want to get people to stop using the Link Manager. It’s old and outdated and kind of silly. The custom menu system does pretty much everything the link manager could and more.

Well, the thing is that the UI wasn’t removed for people who were already using the Link Manager. If you had links in it, then it hung around after an upgrade. Only new installs or installs with no links in them would be missing it.

Understood but that still leaves people somewhat confused when they carry out a fresh install and there’s no Link Manager.

Oh – you’re a hard man! 😉 It’s a done deal now, so I’d agree that there’s no going backwards. But, given the chance, I’d have opted for something a little different. More of a phased removal. I did try and voice concerns during the 3.5 development phase but perhaps I didn’t make enough noise. But it’s not caused anywhere near the level of complaints that (say) the removal of the image title has. And since that change was kinda down to me, I guess this is just karma balancing the universe.
but if you a are using word press for a static site the links facility is essential.how do I access the custom menu from my dashboard? if its better as Samuel says well that is obviously the way to go.
