• Hello,
    I am getting ready to back up my website, http://www.5thpa.org. ( site backup will be another question in an other section)
    My hosting tech support suggested that I backup or update the existing plugins I have on the site to help prevent problems when I upgrade to WP 3.5. What I have installed according to the control panel;
    Jetpack, Akismet, Hello Dolly, Uppsite-go mobile, Wiziapp. Jetpack is the only one ‘active’, version 1.7. Should I up grade JP to 2.1.1, latest version? Will that impact my website negatively?
    Also, should I delete the in-active plugins?

    Thank you for your time.

    Scott

  • Deleting inactive plugins is not necessary in order to make a full backup, however is recommended for security if you don’t plan use the functionality in the inactive plugin anymore.

    You can backup plugins, themes and uploaded content just archiving your wp-content directory. And the options saved by your plugins in the WP database will be backed up together with a full backup of your DB.
