fatal error : Call to undefined function is_active_sidebar

    Hi all tried to access my site iconicexistence today and got the below error message.

    Fatal error : Call to undefined function is_active_sidebar() in /home/content/88/6940688/html/wordpress1/wp-content/themes/portfolio-press/footer.php on line 14

    tried replacing the functions.php theme file with no luck.

    Any help much appreciated

    Have you tried switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    Just switched to another theme and it seems ok (jumbled up) but no error. I need to use the same theme portfolio plus, should I delete it and try a reinstall?

    and if so does that wreck all my widgets etc?

    Since this appears to be theme-repeated and as you are using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s vendors.

    the function is_active_sidebar() should be in /wp-includes/widgets.php

    maybe that file is broken;

    possibly try and manually replace the /wp-includes folder with all its files with a fresh copy.

    Alchymth you are a legend!!Just changed my widgets.php file to widgetsold.php and uploaded a fresh from the box file and everything is calm in the world once again.
