Events ending on last day of month don't end

When an event ends on the last day of a month, it causes that event to be displayed on all the days of the subsequent month.
Is there a way to avoid this?

I told my client to end her events one day short of the end of the month as a temporary work around, but she isn’t satisfied with this.
