How do I add new page

    Hi all. I am starting to get real irritated. I have managed to create a homepage for a site I am busy with for a client but I cant seem to create a new page like an about page or services page. When I try to create a page I keep getting a 404 error saying page not found on server.

    I am using Magic fields as well to create custom fields to add content where I want content to be displayed.

    Please help. It is urgent.

    Check your permalinks settings in wp admin. You may also need to update your htaccess file depending on your server. 404s normally appear when something isn’t right with permalinks.

    Hi Phil. Thanks for your quick response.

    I have checked my permalinks. I set it to %postname% and I also just checked my .htaccess

    Currently I am doing this on my localhost before I setup on the server. Or should I just build the website live then?

    Rewriting urls requires mod_rewrite on a server. Have you activated mod_rewrite on your local server yet? if you don’t know, check your apache\conf\httpd.conf file for that line # LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

    If it has the # in front, remove it and then stop apache and then start it again. Permalinks should work then. A live server will most likely already have it ready to use.
