The duplicating Theme is Andreas04 2.0
Switching to another theme does not show any duplication of the posts on the index page.

I have been tweaking galore today, yes. Since the index page started duplicating posts, I have done the following:
**Removed any code crud inserted to make some plugins work.
**Searched this Support site on “duplicate posts” up to 61 entries, and read many of them.
**Deactivated each plugin in turn, then reactivated it.
    **Switched out themes

When I switch out themes, *that* problem goes away–so does Google adsense! I’m switching to 3CLR 2CR – SB Blue by Guido Stiehle.

We usually suggest to re-activate them one by one and check your website after every new activated plugin!

Yes, of course. That’s what I did. 🙂
    Still seeing double.

Do you have a double Loop in your index.php?

EDIT. Or the_content tag inserted twice in it?

I had tried to fix the MORE tag using Codex information and inserted the php line for content into The_LOOP under an existing php content line.

I had already, I thought, commented it out, so I didn’t go back to it. I was wrong; they were comment LINES, not comment enclosures.

Thanks for your fresh eye on the problem.
