The Links are back

    Not sure the reason the WP team removed the links panel. We use them a lot, especially in footers. Note that you’ll need to recreate all of your links or copy database tables to reinstate.

    You can migrate links as follows:

    Old site:
    1. Navigate to: <wordpress site URL>/wp-links-opml.php
    2. You should see the links for the site displayed in OPML format. Copy the full URL.

    New site:
    3. Install the OPML Importer plugin
    4. Navigate to Tools>Import>Blogroll
    5. Paste in the URL from step 2, then click the Import button.

    Just tried this with 3.5.1 and it seemed to work fine. Note that categories are not preserved. Not a bad tradeoff though 🙂

    I also don’t understand why they removed this basic feature.
