• I have installed the WordPress SEO Plugin and I’m working through “The Definitive Guide To Higher Rankings For WordPress Sites”.

As a result I’ve tried several times and a number of different ways to get an answer on a sitemaps question, but without any success. No acknowledgement at all!

“The Definitive Guide…” article says “My WordPress SEO plugin contains an XML Sitemap module by default that you just have to enable. Go to Settings → XML Sitemaps and click the checkbox:”

I have the box checked, but when I go to Google’s Webmasters Tools I’m told: “You have not submitted any sitemaps for this site”.

The way “The Definitive Guide…” reads, the WordPress SEO Pluginsupercedes the need to implement a Googl Tools sitemap.

So do I also have to add a sitemap from within Google Webmaster Tools?

    Can someone

      PLEASE

    clarify?

  • Rosie,
I have always manually submitted (uploaded) my sitemaps to Google. As I understand it when a sitemap is created the bots just find it, but it is faster if you are new site to submit it yourself directly to google.
If you go to your google Webmaster page, there should be instructions as to how.
