• I have created a site where I have a members area, which is password protected, yet none of the members are in the database yet as subscribers. I don’t want to have anyone be able to register and become a member, yet the problem with entering it all myself is that there are over 950 people, that would take awhile to do manually. Any ideas out there?

I thought of having the register page be password protected, but then they others could just type in the actual register URL if they knew it to bypass this page. So… any help would be much appreciated.

Is there a way to password protect the register page, or reister function?

    thats ass-backwards but yes..

If you are going to prevent passerbyes from registering, and have NO intention of ever allowing open registration OR passerbyes the chance to see content — why not just put the whole damn site behind a password, and dont use registration at all.

you will have to send those 950 ppl a password one way or the other. Whats the difference?

and regardless of which you chose to do, password protecting a page, a file, a complete site, is done the same way:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=htpasswd&btnG=Google+Search

Well, those people already have their passwords from an old site. But, anyway, I think I have found a workaround possibly using Angsuman password plugin, but his site seems to be down. Anyone know where I could get it?
