   I am using wordpress as a simple CMS.

   It has Pages and a blog (which is not the fron page)

   I have a single post which is displayed in the sidebar of the Pages.

   I want to stop this post from showing up anywhere else (i.e not in the blog, archive, search, etc.

   Any help would be greatly appreciated

   I have used all the methods of hiding a category detailed in the codex but they all still count the excluded category and so in areas where I only have one post showing (like on the main blog page ,it skips the category but doesn't display the next one)

   What about making that post a Page instead?

   Is there a way of calling the contents of that page in the sidebar.

   I would like to hide a post too.
   I have a category "press" with an intro post. This post is called (with plugin "get-a-post") at the top of the category template; but I would like to hide it in the category itself (else there is the same post two times) and in the home page...
   I tryed to save it as "private" post; but then the plugin "get-a-post" don't show anymore if you're not admin.

   This is only a quarter of the solution I'm afraid, but you may be able to extend the code: I've written a plugin, Exclude Pages, which will hide pages from the navigation. They will still show up in the search. It also doesn't work with posts... all that aside ;) it may be a start for you?
