Hi, since I installed (and then uninstalled) GDE my WP visual editor has stopped working – for posts and pages. I can add a post title and tags, but not enter anything in the main visual editing box (ditto with pages). I also can’t change the permalinks or use the medialibrary.

Would the installation/uninstall have affected some of the WP code!?

Any idea of how I can fix this?

    Thanks,
    Cassie

  • Hi there,

GDE does integrate with the visual editor by adding a button (TinyMCE plugin), but if the plugin is uninstalled it’s completely removed – GDE does not alter any core files in any way. It also does not integrate at all with permalinks or the media library (in WordPress 3.5, anyway). Most likely you’re having a different problem, but do make sure you clear your cache, etc. just to make sure it’s not a fluke before you drive yourself nuts trying to sort it out. 🙂

    Hope this helps.

I’ve experienced the same issue. I deactivated the plugin and all is back to normal. Every time I reactive GDE the visual editor disappears. I haven’t been able to experiment with the plugin, but from what I’ve been reading it would be a good fit for what I’m doing. So any updates on this would be great.

I’ve never seen this issue and have had only these two reports of it. What happens if you disable editor integration on the Advanced tab of GDE Settings? Does that resolve the issue?

The issue goes away once I deactivate the plugin. I just saw your response today and decided to experiment on my test site running the Twenty Eleven theme and it works without a problem. The custom theme I’m using on my client’s website is not working with the plugin. So I realize now it is a theme issue, not a plugin issue. At least it appears to be.

    Thanks for the response though.

I just started to experiment with using GDE. Now I am experiencing the same problems as some others, meaning that the visual editor has stopped working for posts and pages. I deactivated the plugin but that did not help. At the moment, I do not have an editor, although I am able to see the posts and page data from my IPAD (?). I have been using the Suffusion theme for 2+ years without a problem. I do not have a test site. Thanks for any assistance.

MMolnar, if something is wrong with your site without my plugin active, I don’t know what I can do to help. GDE doesn’t change any core wordpress files, themes, or anything else outside of itself. If you uninstalled the plugin, it didn’t leave anything in its own database tables either.

If your editor isn’t working in this case the cause has to be something other. Sorry.
