New Install Error – the_author()

    I installed WordPress 2.2 on a site I signed up recently and even though I have not touched any file nor changed any settings there is already an error:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_author() in /home/cognitiv/public_html/wp-content/themes/default/index.php on line 11

    Only the banner loads and the title of Hello World! load, nothing else loads at all.

    This error appeared immediately after I installed WordPress.

    I have installed WordPress many times before but this is the first time I get this error.

    Would make you think that the file wp-includes/author-template.php, which contains the code for the_author function is not there or not completely intact. Might reupload that.

    Please note, that the code from the standard WordPress distribution has the call to ‘the_author’ function commented out in wp-content/themes/default/index.php.
