I have Askimet and Bad Behaviour installed but I still have comment spam, a lot of spam on older comments b.t.w. I'm using wordpress 2.2. How can I resolve this? Thanks.

Posted 2 years ago #Same here. They were catching 99% of spam for a year now and then just this past 36 hours I've gotten like 30-40 comment spams. Either something changed with Askimet or someone has built a better spammer tool.

Are they actual spam or trackbacks? How many is a lot? I know we have someone in wp.com land who recently had a couple thousand blocked and is complaining about the 20 that made it through. Are any getting blocked?

yup... the attack has been pretty bad in the last couple of hours. looks like akismet servers are not responding and the spams are getting through...
i seriously need the code to disable pingbacks on all posts of the blog!

There are currently 31 comments identified as spam on my Askimet software but still, sometimes 1 or 2, 3 spams a day comming throw my Askimet and Bad Behaviour. -

Why not turn off comments on those older posts? There's a couple different plugins that do this. (Someone's going to have to provide a link as I can't find any of them right off)
*chuckle* 1 or 2 a day? Consider yourself lucky.

If you really have to do so, you can stop all trackbacks more or less instantly by renaming wp-trackback.php to something else. This should be considered a temporary solution.

Doesn;t that stop legit trackbacks as well?
