    I have an errant FTP login box popping up on my travel blogsite and I don’t know why?! This popup box ONLY occurs on Firefox browsers and ONLY for my travel blog, not the 3 other sites nested in the host! I haven’t installed anything new to my sites or my WordPress blog to warrant this.

    Since, I’ve tried troubleshooting by turning off all my plugins… nothing. My host service says I must have a file or folder that’s password protected, but I’ve gone through some of my files and I haven’t uploaded many files to this site. The only thing I can remember changing around that time is having uploaded a file to another sites ftp server. Can that be something?

    Can anyone help? I’m not majorly web or programming saavy and sure what else to try?

    My site is http://grrrltraveler.com

    Thanks in advance

  • Because you have an image that’s linked to ftp instead of http.

    Thanks @claytonjames, but that can’t be it. I just removed the image and it’s still popping up that box. Not to mention, I haven’t tampered with that image for some time.

    BTW– how can you tell which images are ftp linked?

    Thanks @claytonjames, but that can’t be it.

    No he’s right, that was it. You just need to wipe the cache on the browser. ClaytonJames looked at the HTML source of your web page and searched for ftp://.

    Now that you’ve removed that image reference your page does not challenge me with a FTP user ID and password.

    @claytonjames: HUGE THANKS to you!!! I just realized I accidentally copied the ftp link (vs the http one) into a sidebar widget in order to pull that image in from my files!!! Which is also why I didn’t know how your sourced that image cause it’s not showing.

    I was at my wits end but you really helped it. I think that might be it!!! You rock!

    Thanks @jandembowski for chiming in. Yeah, initially I just removed the image but Clayton’s ftp ref link finally jolted me to where I may have buried that code.

    Thanks for also reminding me about the HTML source option (which on Firefox is Page Info??) Completely forgot I could look through my code for that ftp link. I was really freaking out. With WordPress templates, I didn’t even think to consider it.

    Big thanks to you both.

    @grrrltraveler

    You’re welcome!
