Cant display image in post file not found

Hi there

Exuse me for the retarded question, but this is probably something silly I am doing wrong, I am trying to display an image in a post. When I try upload from wordpress interface I get
Home/learnirish/www/wp-content/uploads/2007/05 is the parent directory writable to server?? Not sure what this means??

I have uploaded the file dail.jpg to http://www.learnirish.ie/www/wp-content/uploads/
As I have done with previous files
I am not sure whether I need to convert this jpg before uploading??
Have also tried view this from browser
And get error
HTTP 404 – File not found
Internet Explorer
