• Hello!
I was using the most recent WordPress when I received a notification that I had 4 upgrades. I clicked and three were my plug ins and the last the wordpress itself.

I hit upgrade on the plug ins, they all successfully upgraded. I then hit upgrade on wordpress and I got a white screen and this message:
Warning: require(/home/asned/littlefawnphotography.com/blog/wp-includes/class-wp-embed.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/asned/littlefawnphotography.com/blog/wp-settings.php on line 137

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/asned/littlefawnphotography.com/blog/wp-includes/class-wp-embed.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear’) in /home/asned/littlefawnphotography.com/blog/wp-settings.php on line 137

You cannot access my site any longer and all that I can see is this message.

I’m not sure how to proceed.

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Ok. I’m going to try to do this, but it’s like you’re speaking french and I’ve only taken a few classes of it. LOL

So if I go into my FTP and just rename my theme, it should change back to the twelve twelve theme. I can do that.

I have no idea how to reset my plugins, but I’m going to click on the link to see if I understand it.

And you’re saying to go to wordpress and redownload a fresh copy (sans content (I’m assuming I’ll see what that means as I go to d/l it?)).

I’m scared to delete. LOL. I *may* have forgotten to backup before I upgraded. (Please don’t flame!)

it should change back to the twelve twelve theme

    Correct.

And you’re saying to go to wordpress and redownload a fresh copy (sans content)

Download a fresh copy of WordPress and re-upload everything except the wp-content folder. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Please don’t flame

Never! We don’t allow that kind of thing around here. 🙂

Thank you for the quick responses. Off to hopefully get this fixed.

I have got EXACTLY the same problem as littlefawn. I have tried the upgrade option and got the same message as littlefawn (obviously with my own domain name.
Tried to downgrade and got the same error.

Resetting plugins seem my last option. will try though!

    any other ideas!!

I can’t get access to my site AT ALL!

I had exactly the same error message, but I got it after trying to downgrade from 3.5 to 3.4.2

So I fixed my problem by renaming my wp-settings file, and reuploading it from a fresh download of wp. I hope this helps you guys.

Same issue here, and it was solved by deleting all content (except customized wp-content, wp-config etc.) and re-uploading from a fresh WP install package.

After the upload, WP proposed to update the database, and the blog was back. 🙂 #happy

I do did the upgrade and was booted out quickly! this is the message I receive today! Prior today- I could actually see my website could nt touch anything- it’s FROZEN…. now tonight 12/16/12 I am receiving this message-
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’ in /home/content/a/s/t/astampinsole/html/wp-content/themes/deux-milles-douze/functions.php on line 61

My Hosting company tells me I have a healthy server and a strong connection-great but can’t touch anything- losing $$$$ business.

    PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME?

    Thanks Trish

It changed but now to this error:
