Does wordpress support setting someone as a moderator so that they can approve posts before they are displayed?

A “Contributor” has the ability to edit posts, but not to publish them. “Author” and above can publish them.

This is by default of course. You can edit capabilities and roles and such if you use the Role Manager plugin.
