Support » Theme: Pinboard » [Theme: Pinboard] International version?

  • Hello,

Is Pinboard translated into other languages or is this on the roadmap?

Is there a not too complicated way, to translate at least such things as 404 errors messages?

    Thanks for your help!

    Frank

    PS: I’m a wordpress beginner.

  • Which Pinboard theme are you talking about?

If you’re using a paid/premium theme; it’s best to go to the site where you got the paid/premium theme for support. These forums are for help with free themes and themes released by WordPress/Automattic.

    Hello Songdogtech,

I am confused by your answer.

As far as I can see, I have posted my question to the support forum of the free WordPress theme called “Pinboard”, haven’t I?
    http://wordpress.org/support/theme/pinboard

Besides, the author of the Pinboard theme has problems with his own forum, and explicitly advised me to come here.

If I got something wrong, please kindly advise where the related forum is.

    Thanks

    Frank

I have some user-contributed translations that may be included in the next version. Please tell me which language you need it in and I will see if I have it.

If you’re looking to translate the theme yourself, see this article.

There are several commercial themes also called Pinboard. There was no clear indication what Pinboard theme you are using.

If you’re using the free version posted in wordpress.org/extend/themes, you’re in the right place.

But if the theme doesn’t currently support translations, you need to do one yourself: http://codex.wordpress.org/I18n_for_WordPress_Developers

@songdogtech, I believe it is implied that a thread tagged with a theme in the repo is referring to it, that’s how the system works, right? Also, the theme is translation-ready, you could have checked before posting, otherwise you just add confusion to the problem.

@daniel: @adieuarcheb says he’s a “wordpress beginner,” and a post tagged with a theme name doesn’t mean the user is on the same page re: free or a commercial theme with the same name. I’ve seen it many times. And, the link I posted covers the same gound as your link. So I’m not adding confusion, I’m clarifying.

    I’ve seen it many times.

Ditto. Recently dealt with a poster who was outraged that a WPORG theme had the same name as his commercial theme. And posted in the WPORG’s theme forum citing a bug!

@daniel, I can help you to translaste Pinboard to Spanish (Spain).

    Hello Daniel,

Sorry to come back to this topic only now, but I didn’t tick the notification box as I realise now. (This is just to confirm songdogtech that beginners sometimes do silly things. 😉 ).

I need German and French. And I’d be happy to help with translation.

Regarding the other topic, I would like to offer my user point of view.
@songdogtech: I really appreciate the help of everyone, so these comments are really intended to make the system better. The location where I posted my initial post (http://wordpress.org/support/theme/pinboard) was from my user’s point of view clearly labelled as the forum for the free theme, as I navigated there from the theme’s Description page. As such, I think that it would have been a good idea to assume that I was referring to this theme and provide an answer to my question. In a second step, it would certainly have been appropriate to point out the possible confusion with other themes of the same name. But your answer sounded to me like “You are definitely in the wrong place.” Hence my confusion.
If http://wordpress.org/support/theme/pinboard is not a unique URL then it might be a good idea to make the URL structure clearer. Maybe you as a moderator can transmit this user feedback to the appropriate people.

Anyway I thank everybody who contributed to answering my question.

    Best wishes

    Frank

@adieuarcheb: why are you beating a dead horse? Look at the URL in your browser; it says wordpress.org/support/topic/international-version?replies=10 not wordpress.org/support/theme/pinboard There are two different places for posts to appear; I don’t chase down posts in individual theme/plugin post listings, I (and 98% of other users) see them all at once.

In a second step, it would certainly have been appropriate to point out the possible confusion with other themes of the same name.

As Esmi pointed out: try http://www.google.com/search?q=pinboard+theme+wordpress How many themes do you see called “Pinboard” for WordPress?

Which Pinboard theme are you talking about?

I’m not telling you you’re in the wrong place; I’m asking.
