• This is my first try setting up WP Multisite on a VPS.

The install went fine and is installed in a folder, lets call it “msfolder”.

I installed the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin and edited all the entries in sunrise.php and domain-mapping.php where it looks for the “/” and replaced it with “/msfolder/”, so the plugin seems to work.

Apparently if you install Multisite in a folder, only the subfolder option is available, not the subdomain option. Correct me if I am wrong.

So I created a couple of sites, siteA and siteB. These can be found in http://www.mysite.com/msfolder/siteA and http://www.mysite.com/msfolder/siteB

I want to map siteA.com and siteB.com to the respective installs.

At the domain registrar I set up both the wildcard (*) and www A records to point to the IP address of http://www.mysite.com

In the respective sites dashboard I map the site to the primary domain, but it is not being redirected to the proper site, the redirection goes to the primary site only (www.mysite.com)

Can anyone tell me where I went wrong?

That’s the problem. You can’t map domains like that. They have to be in root 🙁
