I received the following error when updating to 3.5 Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_current_blog_id() in D:\Hosting\9644198\html\wp-includes\user.php on line 695 and I have no idea how to fix it. Please advise anyone who may know, thank you. Sidenote: My dashboard says I am currently using 3.5 but the top of my dashboard still says I need to update.

    *My site address is gpsdenver.org

    Thanks

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I no longer use Theme Twenty Twelve and am not interested in using it, was this error due to the theme and if not what are my other options?

WOW! Really,so the process of elimination is to activate a theme that I do not want to use? I asked some other questions above that you didn’t even bother answering, like was this isolated to the theme [being I changed themes last night] and this response is it?

We don’t know whether it was isolated to the theme or not. We’re not magicians.

Changing to a known-good-theme to see if the problem goes away is how we tell what the problem is. It’s a simple process, really. If you have a problem, and using the default theme makes the problem go away, well now we know that the problem is in the theme, right? Then we can help you to narrow it down further.

We are text here. Words on a screen. All we can do is to help you help yourself by offering you advice and methods by which you can sort out what the problem actually is so that we can give you answers. But we have no magic, no crystal balls. We cannot peer into your website and tell you what the cause of your woes are. All we can do is put that text on the screen.

I know you all aren’t magicians, I asked hoping maybe someone else had reported a similar problem. Sorry I have no knowledge of any of this and it’s the first update I have had to do since I’ve been managing my site myself. All of my business is driven soley from my site and I’m freaking out just thinking of it being down and not being able to fix it, I’ll see what I can figure out. Thanks for your responses.

I had the same problem when I try to login in wordpress:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_current_blog_id() in /home/lavisantini/stashkids.com.br/wp-includes/user.php on line 695

    What can i do?

this was really helpful! THANKS SO MUCH!

Hi, I’ve tried renaming the theme, changing permissions to 755, moving the plugins to a temporary folder, I’ve even deleted a plugin that I thought might be the culprit. I thought I was getting somewhere when I got my login page back and the blog appeared, but even those have gone again now, just white space.

Is my only option now to delete everything but wp-content and manually upload everything else again do you think? Thanks

Did anybody test version 3.5 in the wild before releasing it? I just performed the upgrade and my site crashed. I followed some of the steps listed above to no avail and now some of my directories are locked.

The only way I found to fix this issue quickly was to roll back to version 3.4.2. Make sure you perform a full backup of your installation before you perform this upgrade.

Are there any plans in the future releases to correct this disastrous upgrade experience? I hate to sit on a previous version for to long, but…
