Help needed-Newbie-Header, background and 3column

Hi I am LaDonna a complete newbie to wordpress. I just got my hosting tonight and switched from my blogger site to here. I switched because I need a more professional looking site for my Etsy business. I was inspired by the KevinandAmanda.com site.

My questions are:

1. How do I install a custom header that I made?

2. What dimensions does it need to be?

3. What template do I need to chose in order to do all of this?

4. How can I make it a 3 column template?

Right now it is showing I have the twenty twelve template if that helps

To edit your site title and decription: Go themes http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/customize.php

To change your header image: Go to Apperance, Backgroud http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-background

How can I make it 3 column though? I am wanting the look of the http://www.kevinandamanda.com wordpress site. I like how they have the correct spacing and the 3 columns with a footer

I’d suggest you find a theme that already has 3 columns — unless you know a lot of coding, modifying a theme won’t be that easy. There are lots of really great (and free) themes on the page linked below — you can use the filter function to find 3 column themes:

That’s the thing though, I have found all the 3 column themes but when I click preview they don’t show all 3 columns. I am used to blogger so I was hoping to get 3 column like on there.

The preview won’t necessarily show all the theme options or layouts. You may need to install the theme and do a test drive. Or check to see if there is a theme homepage or site — they often have full fledged demos of a theme.
