Not showing pages, only posts

I installed the plugin so that I can display excerpts from child pages on the parent pages of my site based on Categories, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Here’s what I did:

• Installed plugin
• Created new Category
• Had to create a post so I could Categorize a few pages (otherwise the option to Categorize would not show)
• Set the parent page in the Categories section (when I did this, it would randomly select a different page so I tried it a few times until it picked the one I picked)
• Added the [showauto] code to the parent page
• Result: shows a post I made to display the Category and not the page excerpts

Am I using this the wrong way? Does this only work to display post excerpts on a page and not excerpts of other pages?
