is there a way or plugin which could list all authors (also author images and descriptions) and display them in the order of new posts or just highlight new posts..

Great request. I wish I there was. That is exactly the type of plugin I'm looking for...

I found this - look at page-authors-2.0.php - it won't put them in order of most recent post, but at least it will create the list. I'm going to see if I can modify the query to get it to sort by most recent posts first, not simply by user_id.
