_s archive.php not working

    I have recently started using the _s theme for my sites. The archive.php file is not working if, in re-reading over template hierarchy, I understand how it works. If there is no category file, the archive is the default but all I keep getting is the 404 error page. The MONTHLY archives do work but tags and categories do not.

    I have not changed a thing on the archive page so not sure why this wouldn’t be working. Any suggestions or anyone else having this issue? Thanks so much!
