Add banner and buttons to sidebar

    Hello I am trying to figure out how to add buttons and banners on my side bar. I am using the WordPress Default 1.6 by Michael Heilemann template.

    Edit the sidebar.php template file in the theme directory. Upload the edited file to your server.
    Don’t forget! Make a backup copy of the file before you start, just in case something goes wrong!

    I learned how to do it, but I can’t understand why the footer text and the text under meta gets big when I try and add stuff to the side bar.

    Because you broke something…
    The whole sidebar is a huge nested list (=lists in list) and if you break its flow – you get a mess.
