I am running WP 2.1.3 on a Linux server.
I try to use WP as a CMS.
I updated the permalink. Even when I made .htaccess writeable I had to copy and paste. But now the permalink work.

    http://www.rohnerdesign.com/wp_213_CMS/

click on pages to see the permalinks

    But!!!

If, for example, I misstype or if I do not finish the folder where wordpress resides it should give me a general 404 error and not in my wordpress.

I have other folders for clients on http://www.rohnerdesign.com/foldername

If a clients misstypes their foldername they get rerouted to my wp test folder.

    Any help is appreciated.

I have a feeling that you probably put the .htaccess file into the root of the domain instead of the root of where the blog is. That’s probably why you had to cut and paste it as well since the system was looking in the wrong place for it.

Not sure if you’re going to have to edit teh file now but it should be moved into the subdirectory.

    Thanks

    That was the problem!

I copied the .htaccess in my public_html folder into the wp_213_CMS folder and updated the permalink – great!!!
