Mobile device not showing scaled down website of desktop

Hi
I am new to wordpress. I have designed my website and it looks reasonably okay on a desktop. However when I publish and view the site on a mobile device (iPhone) – I am getting several alignment issues. I think this is occuring because I have installed a responsive theme (Portfolio). I want to essentially have the same layout as my desktop but on a mobile device – i.e. everything scaled down as opposed to layout changes that occur due to responsive styling. I am not sure how to go about this. Can someone advise please? Apologies if this has been asked before.
