I dont know much about this stuff so I will run through what I did and hopefully someone can help!!

I downloaded the wordpress software through Dreamhost and set it up at www.sonicpeanut.com/wordpress. I then tried to fiddle with the options and make the the site root go to the blog homepage. When I hit "save options" it kept taking me to and ERRROR PAGE. I tried multiple times and then just figured I could delete the account and start over. I deleted wordpress from my FTP and downloaded the software again, this time to www.sonicpeanut.com/wordpressblog. It gave me some error about "mysql" already being used so I tried again, entering "mysql2". When I go to the new site, as you can see, it has a record of the two posts I made before all this started happening, when the blog was under a DIFFERENT URL (but the formatting and layout is gone.) I just want to know how to ERASE all records of wordpress from any association with my website so I can just start over. It seems like my wordpress account is storing my posts somehow and keeps linking tem to my new attampts at starting from scratch.

Thank you for any help you can give!!

First, you don't download the software from Dreamhost - you judt install it, I think.
Don't fiddle with things if you don't know what are you doing.
Arbitrarily changing the URI options is a big no-no!
Start by reading the manual before doing anything:

I stand corrected, I did not "download" I used "1-click install."

As for the intelligence behind what I did? Yes, it is highly questionable and I have since become quite familiar with the correct proceedure so that I can do it right next time.

However, I still need some help getting to "next time."

If I can just find out how to start from scratch! I promise I have learned my lesson! :(

I don't know much about the one-click things...
Normally, if you have ftp access to your site - you can just delete the WP files and folders. That's step one.
And because all your content is stored in the database, access your DB with a tool like phpMyAdmin and delete/drop all the tables from the existing database.

Then try a manual install > read the Codex instructions about it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

Thank you Rudolf45!! Droping all the categories from my database was all I needed! I did that and used Dreamhost to delete all the Wordpress files from my FTP. Then when I "one-click install"ed Wordpress again, it was like the first time!!!!!

I will tread extra carefully from now on.....

    thanks again
