• I have been trying – for half a day now- to upgrade my b2-blog (12Mb database) to WordPress, but the way it has been described in the wiki just doesn’t seem to work. I have tried all the suggestions there as well but none of them seems to work fine.
It is sad that a wonderful piece of software has such a minimal upgrade from b2. This isn’t meant to diss the developers, but since the rest of all installations work just so easy, it is sad that there is not a single working b2 upgrade procedure with the smell of authority.
From a neutral point of view: Isn’t it possible to write a script that installs WP and pulls data from the old b2 tables as well at the same time? Or a script that converts the b2 tables to wp data format so that you can export it, install WP and import the data?
I haven’t read the code to check what the upgrade pages do exactly so if this is yet another useless post, I’m sorry. If there is a foolproof upgrade tool, I didn’t find it.

  • I switched from b2 to WP last year while it was still in it’s infant stages. Maybe you need to do what I did. Get an older copy of WP to convert everything then upgrade to the newest version. 🙂

Well, I’ve been waiting almost a year until now with upgrading. I was done with the limited possibilities of b2 over a year ago, so switching to an older version? neh…. :-/ I want it all now.

What I meant was that you should convert from b2 with an older version of WP then upgrade to the newest version. You just need to get everything in the tables and if you are having problems with the latest version an older version may work for you.

Okay. Not happy with the answer, but thanks.
