Hello. I am very new to WordPress and need a little bit of help if possible. I have a website called http://www.projekta.org.uk It is hosted on 1&1. I do my FTP upload using Dreamweaver.
It will be a page for adding musical content etc.
I have successfully installed wordpress in a directory called wordpress. I can access all the necessary files to do the design and build work. All good so far. However, I would like users to be able to access the blog/site from the simple address:
http://www.projekta.org.uk
I seem to be having major problems getting this to happen. I am a musician/designer and not a boffin. Any help would be very welcome. Thank you.
you have installed wordpress in "wordpress" directory... that is... your site can be accessed via http://www.projekta.org.uk/wordpress
hmmm i see that yours is a basic site... i presume that you haven't added any content on your site... so the best option would be to install a fresh copy of wordpress in your root folder and not in "wordpress" folder
and if you have put up content on your site then you could use this link

Thank you but I want the initial landing page to be simply www projekta.org.uk
Also, I can't find a file called .htaccess in any of the wordpress folders.
If you want to keep wordpress in a folder and use it form folder then you can follow instructions here
http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
.htaccess file is hidden file that is why you will not see it until you allow to see hidden files.
