• I recently launched this blog and I think it has some great potential in a great niche, but while I like the FallSeason theme I based the design on, I feel it is not great for usability. Any suggestions on how to improve usability for the site so that the information people are looking for is very accessible would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Mike

  • Well, I like it. As opposed to many travel sites I’ve seen, it’s understated and yet produces good information.

    I didn’t find usability a problem at all. What specific usability issues did you have?

    Oops should have mentioned that the site is http://www.europeupclose.com, though I guess you found it in my profile. 🙂 Thanks for the compliment, we are trying very hard to produce great usable information. I’m not sure what the usability issues are actually, we have just received some general feedback that the usability is not good in terms of navigation. I don’t really see why, so I thought some fresh eyes could help flush it out.

    Hmmmm. Well, if the “feedbacker” doesn’t give specifics, I don’t know what to say. I didn’t at all find it problematic….

    Thanks, great to hear! Anyone else take a look?

    Yeah, I’ve looked at it a couple times. Why do you have the comments template on your front page? Just curious.

    I’m using a custom page for the homepage. (A feature of WordPress 2.1) I’m not sure how to get rid of the comments template completely.

    Oh, okay. Well, if you don’t want comments in any of your pages, just remove the call for it in the page.php template. It looks like this:

    <?php comments_template(); ?>

    Oh yeah, well I do want them on the Q&A page…

    i think its very usable. the content is all laid out very well!
