• I am trying to change the URL people will use to access my site. Currently it is http://www.sticksandstonesfashion.com and I would like to change it to christinasimms.com. Both domains are registered and setup through my BlueHost account. I am a novice at WordPress and tech stuff in general.

I have referenced this help article http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL multiple times and searched the help forums for people with similar problems and am still having difficulty successfully changing my URL. I tried changing the URL directly in my database through myPHP and it did not work. I wasn’t sure if I needed to change something in my WordPress settings/admin first and then change through myPHP. I feel stupid and obviously need to become more familiar with WordPress but the other methods in the “Changing The Site URL” document were not clear to me and I am not sure what all I need to do.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you.

  • Changing the URL in the admin dashboard under Settings > General, is the same as going into PhpMyAdmin and changing the 2 URLs in the Options table. You can do it either place, but don’t need both.

Other than changing that, you also have to move all files and folders to the right folder for the 2nd domain name instead of the 1st one, unless you told both domains in Bluehost to go to the same folder/location.

Thank you for the clarification! That should help me a lot!
