    Hi,

I am developing a new website using wordpress for a client who already has a live website, and want to keep the same URL. My plan was to use a subdomain to develop the website, then transfer it to the old address once it was completed. However the premium theme he is using is one use only, and I wasn’t sure that were I to activate it in the separate wp installation on the subdomain, that I would be able to transfer it to the new URL.

    is it the case that:

    1) if I keep the same wp installation (i.e. transfer the whole site database and URLs) the theme will be transferred successfully

    BUT

    2) If I just transferred content via the import/export function then the theme would not be transferable/transferred.

    Many thanks in advance!

  • This is a question you’ll have to ask the theme developer directly. The kind of license you describe is contrary to WordPress’s licensing, and we don’t support it in these forums — nor do we have any way of knowing what your theme developer intended.

Many thanks Amy, clearly I have confused something along the way!
