Well, the thing is, 2.0.9 is also supported. They haven't stopped developing the 2.0 line (from my understanding) - mainly because not everyone has the server requirements to support the next gen WP version.
So 2.0.9 *is* the latest version - in the 2.0 series. *Both* versions are supported equally.
I know there are some differences between 2.0.x and 2.1.x - I'm just wondering which version caters more to the "tech-dummies". I, myself have seen interesting things with both versions. I'm more comfortable using 2.0.9, because that's what I've used for some time now. But I've upgraded to 2.1.2, and I've seen some surprising things - like I don't like that categories and pages in my sidebar have been meshed together (but it's fixable) - but to my amazement the WYSIWYG editor actually performs better.
So, my question still stands...
