• One of my sites was hacked but it looks as though the backup had been hit too. Groan.

    Every page of my site shows (in Firebug) –
    ‘<!DOCTYPE html>
    <html lang=”en” dir=”ltr”>
    <head>
    <meta charset=”UTF-7″>’

    wp_config is set to – ‘define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);’
    and phpMyadmin shows all tables set to utf8.

    This prevents use of £ (pound sterling) and other ‘special’ characters.
    I’ve been hunting around for days now – trouble is, there are so many issues with CHARSET that it’s a job to find anything relevant to my problem!
    I’ve re-loaded my theme (Suffusion) from scratch and I’ve exported and re-imported my database – no joy.
    Any suggestions on what I should do next?
